With more than 1.2 billion monthly users, Reddit is where your customers are talking, complaining, and recommending products. Time to make sure they’re talking about you.

Why should you care about Reddit?

Reddit grows fast… like 5x traffic in one year fast. It’s not just another platform, it’s now a search engine favorite.

It’s thriving, while others are sinking on Google’s results page.

Google started prioritizing Reddit over niche sites in late 2023. Affiliate blogs are disappearing ever since, while Reddit’s posts are climbing higher and often ranking #1.

Even brand-new subreddits can outrank established blogs. Reddit posts aren’t just ranking. They’re ranking blazingly fast.

Reddit holds so much potential, that it’s impossible to fully exploit. Which means it should find space in your marketing strategy.

Why would I even share this?

As I said, no one can exploit Reddit’s full potential alone. I’ve tested it for SaaS products, and it works.

I want to connect with other SaaS founders. And hey, feel free to buy me a coffee if you find this useful.

Let’s dive into how I use Reddit to promote SaaS products!

I’ll keep it concise and helpful!

How to promote a SaaS product on Reddit?

To achieve decent brand visibility on Reddit and potentially market your product you need:

  1. Reddit account(s)
  2. Advanced writing skills
  3. Subreddit research
  4. Patience and consistency

OR

You can use a tool that handles it all for you automatically.

Reddit MANUAL promotion

I’ll briefly cover the basics of how it’s done manually. The focus, however, will be on automatization, since none of the SaaS founders I’ve met have time or resources to spend 10+ hours on Reddit daily.

➕ Step #1: Create an account on Reddit and join the relevant subreddits.

🔥 Step #2: Warm up your account by commenting and adding values to others’ posts. This can also be achieved by writing industry-related posts.

🔁 Step #3: Repeat the above-mentioned process until your account looks legit.

🔍 Step #4: Scan for threads mentioning the problems your solution is solving. However, don’t add links to your landing pages, as it’s likely going to get removed. Instead, add the brand name, and if you spark the interest users will find you through their own Google searches.

💫 Step #5: Repeat the exact process from Step #1 to Step #4 with multiple Reddit accounts, so you aren’t promoting with only one.

⚠ Important: Although this can seem like a straightforward process, things often break in Step #5. Reason? Well, let’s just say you’ll also need some technical knowledge on handling proxies, managing multiple accounts, and not to mention writing all of those warm-up comments manually…

That’s why I never succeeded with the manual method but found great success with automatization.

Reddit AUTO-PILOT promotion

Follow the steps below to replicate the automatization success for yourself:

  1. Go to KeyMentions and hit the Sign Up button.
  2. Fill in your details, set a password, and hit the Create Account button.
Optionally share how you found their tool.
  3. Define your Project name and Brand name.
For the sake of this showcase, I’ll use Grammarly as an example.
  4. Describe your project as much as possible.
  5. Select the language and the email address on which you wish to receive alerts, and hit the Create project & get in button.
  6. At this point, you’ll already have a verification email in your inbox, so go ahead and click the link in it to verify your account.
  7. Hit the Add keyword button.
  8. Select from AI suggestions or type your own.
  9. Once done, hit the Add keyword button.
KeyMentions will start collecting the posts instantly!
  10. Select Threads from the sidebar on the left.
    🚀 I already got 180+ suitable threads.
  11. Choose any thread and hit the Generate comment button.
  12. I usually go with the Funny comment type 🙂
You can also use the Recommended or Short type.
  13. A completely natural and Reddit-friendly comment popped up in a moment, so I Approved it.
  14. Since I don’t have any Reddit accounts available, I also hit the Send to auto-publish button.
Alternatively, you can do it manually and mark the comment as posted.

Now you are set up! You can repeat this process and in only a few clicks write strategic and useful comments!

Notes:

  • There are several filters you can use in the Threads tab. They allow you to see threads related to only specific keywords, see posts with certain traffic, and a good number of upvotes. Essentially, if it’s a competitive niche, you’ll want your posts on the best thread as it will rank higher.
  • If you decide to add comments with your Reddit account(s), you can copy the text and mark it with I’ve replied button.
  • This approach also opens space for improvements. Although not as fast as a fully automated method, you get a chance to remove and/or rewrite parts of the AI-generated comments.
  • I’d go with this strategy if you’re in a sensitive industry. If you’re doing marketing for a SaaS brand, this is unnecessary and you can go ahead with the auto-pilot approach.

Let them talk!!!

Once people start talking about your brand, you are one step closer to success!

Ideally, you’d want to be part of this discussion. Well, one way is to constantly monitor popular subreddits for your brand mentions.

The alternative, of course, is to automate the process!

All you have to do is add your brand name (including its variations) to KeyMentions.

From then on you’ll be able to see whenever someone is talking about your brand, and even have the AI-comment take a discussion in your direction.

And all that, without having to write a word by yourself! Truly amazing.

Even if you forget about KeyMentions for a while, you’ll likely receive an email like this:

Let’s be honest, who can ignore the fact that three buses of people are talking about things relevant to their business? 🙂

Well, that about covers it. Once again, if you like what you read, you can use the button below to treat me with a nice cappuccino. ☕

Otherwise, feel free to reply to my email and share what you think about this method. 🤘
